VisionKey brings the latest in eye-controlled communication technology to enable users to utilize eye movements for complete computer access and for augmentative communication. It is lightweight and fully portable. VisionKey comes with a stand-alone, separate control unit with a display and a voice synthesizer; for person-to-person communication no computer is needed. A standard USB keyboard interface is provided for computer control and the unit can also be powered this way.
System name(s): VisionKey (5+, 6V/H, 7)
| Who can use the system | |
| Target users | ALS, brainstem stroke, muscular dystrophy, CP, Locked-in-Syndrome, Quadriplegia, traumatic brain injury |
| What is required from the user | Requires: Good control in one eye, text-based skills to make selections, cognitive ability to understand and complete selection process. Can be used with vertical or horizontal scanning (eyes as switches) for users with limited eye control. |
| Can the system be operated entirely by the user without assistance once the system is setup and running? | After a session is initiated with the help of an assistant, the user can independently recalibrate if necessary and also change other system settings such as fixation dwell capture time. |

Technical Information
The technical information below is mainly targeted at developers.
| What is the eye tracker physical interface type? | USB. It does not need any adaptation software. It can operate with any application that can be used with a standard keyboard. |
| Does the eye tracker require manufacturer's own dedicated software to operate, or can it be used with other suitable software? | With any suitable software. |
| If the eye tracker can be used with other suitable software, will the manufacturer make the required control protocols available? | |
| Does the manufacturer's own dedicated software have an API (programming interface) to allow control over the manufacturer's software and eye tracker by third party applications? | No. |
| If the manufacturer's own dedicated software and eye tracker has an API, will the manufacturer make the required control protocols available? | |
| Is a stream of gaze data (x, y, pupil size, blink etc) from the manufacturer's own dedicated software accessible to other third party software? | No, cannot be accessed in real time by third party software. |
| If a stream of gaze data is accessible in real time, will the manufacturer make the format available? | Yes, with restrictions or licence. |
| Can gaze data (x, y, pupil size, blink etc) from the manufacturer's own dedicated software be captured and saved in a file for later use and analysis? | Yes, can be saved. |
| If gaze data can be captured and saved, is the saved data file accessible to third party software? |
